What is Mesotherapy?
Active ingredients used in Mesotherapy are introduced into the skin by small micro injections. For patients who fear needles, this can also be achieved by a method known as transdermal mesotherapy.

The needles used in Mesotherapy are very short and thin so the doctor can deliver the medications to the right depth.

Different mesotherapy ingredients are used for different indications. In addition, the long term results of Mesotherapy treatments are very dependent on what active ingredients are present in the Mesotherapy solution and how many treatments are prescribed.

These combinations present in the cocktail, stimulate the production of collagen so that the dermis is strengthened thereby improving skin tone and texture. When should one start Mesotherapy?

For anti-ageing skin rejuvenation: Intrinsic ageing, also known as the natural ageing process, is a continuous process that normally begins in our mid-20s. Within the skin, collagen production slows, and elastin, the substance that enables skin to snap back into place, has a bit less spring. Dead skin cells do not shed as quickly and turnover of new skin cells may decrease slightly. While these changes usually begin in our 20s, the signs of intrinsic ageing are typically not visible for decades.

How can Mesotherapy give back a youthful appearance and help the ageing process?

Mesotherapy with Growth Factors stimulates the fibroblasts to produce collagen, which is the major support structure for the skin. If one can keep one's skin firm and taught with collagen, then the sagging that takes place over time can be contained as tighter skin supports the soft tissues of the face and body.

A series of treatments is necessary usually 1 treatment every 10 days foe the first month and then 1 treatment every 6 to 12 weeks for maintenance. Rather than waiting until their problems are bothersome again, patients must appreciate that maintenance goes a long way and that single mesotherapy treatments should be repeated twice yearly after an initial course.

What to expect after the Mesotherapy procedure?

For anti ageing mesotherapy there is no downtime at all. The skin may at best feel somewhat dry and tight for a day or two, but certainly no daily activities need to be in any way hindered by having a mesotherapy treatment.

After mesotherapy for double chin and fat reduction (Lipodissolve), a mild redness and swelling of the skin occurs following the procedure which usually resolves within 1 to 3 days and in some cases a bit of tenderness and bruising may occur (as this is a deeper treatment). However, since the introduction of a radiofrequency RF procedure after the Mesotherapy treatment especially for the double chin, there are only mild side effects such as swelling and bruising which resolve without any consequences and we have seen a dramatic improvement in long term results.

For best results for a double chin reduction, 4 to 8 treatments are needed 2 weeks apart.
